Our first ever outdoor event kicked off with Shenley Church End Summer Fete, held at Medbourne Pavillion Milton Keynes.
This was a huge learning curve for the group, as we weren't sure what to expect. We decided that our stall would consist of a game for children, cakes provided by Marion's daughter Rachel, who has her own small bakery business, and lots of information about the group itself.
It was brilliant, with all the kids loving our Fish Pong game where they could win bags of sweets.
The following Saturday we attended Broughton & Brooklands MK50 Festival and this was an even greater success. We then went on to do the Harpole Scarecrow event on the 9th September.
GranPart was honoured to be invited to Westminster as part of the MK50 Birthday celebrations. It was a great evening with around 100 different causes invited. Milton Keynes MP’s Iain Stewart and Mark Lancaster organised the event, which took place in the State Rooms of Speakers House, to show their appreciation for ‘unsung heroes’. Iain mentioned GranPart in his speech and said how privileged & proud he was to be part of such a worthwhile support group, and that he will continue to help us get this issue recognised in Parliament.
WAITROSE - COMMUNITY MATTERS
On Saturday 16th September we had a table in Waitrose Oakgrove Milton Keynes , where we are also part of the Community Matters Green Token Scheme for September.
There was a lot of interest from shoppers, who were very pro-active in approaching us and asking for more information. Hopefully this has helped spread the word and will lead to new members. It was also good to see that the green token collection was doing really well.
We plan to be very pro-active in 2017 and do our best to create greater awareness about our group, and hopefully increase our membership.
Shenley Church End Parish Council are holding a fete on 1st July 2017 at Medbourne Pavilion, and we have booked a place. Also On August 12th & 13th we will be attending the Blisworth Canal festival where we will have a stand promoting GranPart along with a game to encourage people to stop and take interest.
If you are in either of these areas please come along and say hello, your support will be very much appreciated.
